Web 2.0 Tools and the Classroom Video

This is a YouTube video authored by Michael Weldon the explains exactly what the title stats "Web 2.0 Tools for the Classroom".  The video first explains what Web 2.0 is is all about.  The video focuses on Blogs, Podcasts and Wikis as tools, Then explains the applications to the classroom.  This is a fairly basic overview of Web 2.0 and how it can be implemented in the classroom, though it does offer some clever suggestions of Web 2.0 uses in the classroom.
Student blogs, teacher blogs, class wikis, class subject wiki's and teacher podcasts are just a few of the ways Weldon explains that web 2.0 can be used in the classroom.  This video is a wonderful introduction to Web 2.0 in the classroom and provides a platform for educators to spring from using their own creativity and strengths.

  1. It is really interesting to think about how the internet went from being primarily a source for research, to a way for people all over the world to interact and share information. I agree that having a course blog is a nice way for teachers to be creative and engage students in a different way. Also, being a future math teacher, the tip about having example problems where students are able to comment is a great idea!

  2. This was a helpful post Brendan especially since I'm doing the Wiki part of our inquiry project. It was an easy way to see the connections that can be made in the classroom using Web 2.0 components. This is a long way from the way did research and just basic learning when I was in high school. The encyclopedia seems like a fossil now!
